    FAQs

Does the Higher Scores curriculum include any kind of online access for students?

No. The Higher Scores curriculum does not include a student portal or online access. We feel like the marketplace is already crowded with student-facing ACT solutions. Instead, we are building a teacher solution, focusing on equipping teachers with all the resources they’ll need to effectively teach an ACT prep course–or integrate ACT prep lessons into their regular content-area classes.

How much time is needed for each lesson?

It varies, but generally, the lessons are designed for a 60-minute class period. There are built-in pacing options that allow the teacher to shorten or extend the lessons. Those options are explained in the teacher training and explicitly stated within some lessons.

    Are there reading lessons?

There are not reading lessons for the Early Adopter Program. However, reading lessons will be included in the full launch in August 2026.

    Are there science lessons?

No, there are no science lessons at this time. We are waiting to gauge the overall interest in science prep since that section has moved to optional status.

Can a teacher without an extensive background in English or math teach the lessons?

For the most part, yes. The lessons are somewhat “scripted” with speaker notes embedded in the Google Slides. The speaker notes tell the teacher what to do or say on each slide. This type of assistance will enable a teacher to feel comfortable to present lessons outside their typical content area. With a little prep work beforehand, most any high school teacher should be able to effectively facilitate the lessons.

Is the Higher Scores curriculum a one-time purchase or a subscription?

Higher Scores is sold to schools and districts as an annual license. Teachers have unlimited access to the resources while the license is active. School officials will have to renew the license each year. A renewal discount will be offered for customers who want to keep their license active from year to year.

What information does Jane Ross Tutoring need to prepare a formal quote?

We simply need to know the number of teacher accounts the school or district will need and the approximate number of students who will be served with the curriculum.

Are the resources digital or printed?

Both are available options. All quotes are provided with three tiers to give schools options. In the most economical Tier 1 package, all resources are digital-only. Teachers will download files and print all materials for themselves and their students. In the Tier 2 package, teachers will receive printed instructor manuals and other classroom resources needed for the lessons. In the Tier 3 package, teachers will receive printed instructor manuals, all classroom resources, AND consumable workbooks for all students.
